It means our inventory across every brand is verified non-gray-market, comes with full manufacturer warranty, and gets factory-direct support if anything ever needs service. It also means you can hold a Leica M11, a Nikon Z9, a Canon R5, a Sony α1, or a Fujifilm GFX in your hand before committing — without flying somewhere or trusting a stranger's eBay listing.

How To Buy A Camera

Three things we tell everyone.

Tip 01

Hold it before you commit

Specs lie. Weight, balance, where the dials sit, how the menu feels — none of that comes through in a YouTube review. Pick up two or three bodies in the shop. Spend ten minutes with each.

Tip 02

Match the camera to the work

Wedding shooter wants different specs than landscape shooter, who wants different specs than wildlife shooter. Tell us what you photograph. We will narrow the field.

Tip 03

Lenses outlive bodies

A great lens lasts twenty years. A digital body lasts six to ten. Build the budget around lenses first, then the body. The math almost always works out better.

Already Have Glass?

Bring your lens. Try it on a new body.

If you have an existing lens collection, the camera-buying conversation starts with what you already own. Bring your lenses in. We will mount them on the candidate bodies in the shop. You see how the lens performs on the new sensor, the autofocus, the stabilization, before you spend money.

If you are switching mounts, that is a trade-in conversation. Bring the body and lenses you are leaving behind. We evaluate them on the spot, apply the credit to the new system, and send the old gear to KEH for the bigger items.

For Leica owners, the M-mount lineage means M-mount glass works across decades of bodies. Bring a 50-year-old Summicron and put it on an M11.

Should I buy mirrorless or DSLR in 2026?
Mirrorless is where active development is happening across every major brand. Most new pro and enthusiast bodies released since 2022 are mirrorless. DSLRs are still excellent if you have an existing F-mount or EF-mount lens collection or prefer optical viewfinders. Come in and hold both before you decide. We can mount your existing lenses on either system in the shop.
Can I try a camera before buying it?
Yes. Hands-on demos are how we operate. Hold the body. Mount a lens. Fire a few frames. Check the viewfinder, the menus, the weight in your hand. We will mount your existing lenses if compatible. Drop in Monday to Friday between 1pm and 5pm, or call ahead so we can have a specific body ready.
Do you take trade-ins toward a new camera?
Yes. Bring in your current camera or lens for a trade-in evaluation. Credit applies directly to the new purchase. For higher-volume sales we partner with KEH Camera and host periodic in-store buying events.
What if you do not have the camera I want in stock?
We can special-order any current model from any of our authorized brand lines. Most cameras arrive within one to two weeks. Order through us and you get the same retail price plus actual after-sale support, instead of buying through an online retailer who disappears the moment something goes wrong.
Do you carry medium format or large format cameras?
Yes. We work with Fujifilm GFX medium format directly and can special-order Hasselblad and Leica S-system. For large format, we coordinate sourcing through our manufacturer relationships. Call (505) 983-6591 with what you are looking for.
